With the ever increasing number of diverse research projects on SubMIT users request new features and new software they would like to use in their projects. The team cannot always install all software and enable all new features because sometimes it is more complicated then just ‘dnf’ing’ a new package but if the number of requests for specific features grow the team is making special efforts to just make it happen. A major request, OpenMPI that has taken some time to commission have recently been completed and will allow our user base to work more efficiently.

OpenMPI 4.1.1 will improve the cluster’s ability for parallel computing and is now available through the “module” system with the command module load mpi. All users are welcome to make use of this new feature. Documentation coming soon!
