We’re excited to invite you to our annual one-day Workshop on Basic Computing Services in the Physics Department (subMIT) on Thursday, January 30, 2025. The workshop will run from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM in the Kolker Room (26-414), with a hybrid option available via Zoom.

The morning session begins with an overview of the subMIT project and its core resources, followed by practical demonstrations of how to interact with the system through various interfaces. We’ll also feature comprehensive tutorials on essential tools, including software management with Conda, container environments, and batch job management using Slurm & HTCondor.

The afternoon showcases exciting research applications across physics, from nuclear physics and lattice QCD to topological superconductors and quantum computing. Our speakers will demonstrate how they leverage subMIT’s computational resources to advance their research.

Whether you’re a current user or new to the system, this workshop offers valuable insights for everyone. Bring your laptop to follow along with the tutorials, or simply observe and learn from the presentations.
