{"id":689,"date":"2025-03-12T17:48:13","date_gmt":"2025-03-12T17:48:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/submit.mit.edu\/?p=689"},"modified":"2025-03-19T20:40:42","modified_gmt":"2025-03-19T20:40:42","slug":"submit-updates-and-user-highlights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/submit.mit.edu\/?p=689","title":{"rendered":"Highlights from the Users Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The subMIT team recently held its monthly users meeting in <a href=\"https:\/\/indico.mit.edu\/event\/1346\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/indico.mit.edu\/event\/1346\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">February<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/indico.mit.edu\/event\/1347\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/indico.mit.edu\/event\/1347\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">March<\/a> with very interesting updates from both postdoctoral fellows and the project team. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Solving Einstein&#8217;s equations on subMIT<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Josu Aurrekoetxea, a postdoctoral research fellow specialized in cosmological simulations, talked in February about numerical relativity. Coding Einstein&#8217;s equations requires adaptive mesh refinement due to the presence of both massive compact objects and large void regions. Josu designed some of the codes that allow to solve and visualize axion star explosions, spinning primordial black holes, and many other cool topics!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">String theory becomes computational<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Richard Nally, a Pappalardo Fellow, talked in March about the evolving field of string theory. From the observations that the universe is in accelerated expansion and that we live in a de Sitter geometry, one of the goals of string theory has been to find de Sitter vacua.
