{"id":409,"date":"2023-10-03T18:49:15","date_gmt":"2023-10-03T18:49:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/submit06.mit.edu\/?p=409"},"modified":"2023-10-03T18:49:15","modified_gmt":"2023-10-03T18:49:15","slug":"cern-makes-the-leap-to-exabyte-disk-storage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/submit.mit.edu\/?p=409","title":{"rendered":"CERN makes the leap to Exabyte disk storage"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While our Tier-2 centers in the US are still sitting at some ten Petabyte disk storage, and our subMIT system at just barely 457 TB storage, <a href=\"https:\/\/home.cern\/news\/news\/computing\/exabyte-disk-storage-cern\">CERN has broken into the Exabyte disk storage category<\/a>, and they have done so using the CERN EOS file system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While it is unlikely we are going anywhere near such volume sizes on subMIT itself it might be a good idea to see what we can learn and what storage technology is in the end the one we want to use.
